This class is for dancers looking to fine tune their turns, from achieving your first single pirouette to doubles and more. Class begins with barre work designed to strengthen your foundations in classical ballet, emphasizing proper alignment, placement, and engagement. Focus is placed on the foundations of good turns: preparation and take off, maintaining balance and control throughout the movement, and ending with proper placement.

We then move to center to translate barre work to combinations on the floor. Center work focuses on adagio and pirouettes, allowing dancers to gain confidence and explore their artistry.

Please wear dance or athletic clothing designed for movement and ballet slippers or pointe shoes. Make sure to secure your hair. If you do not own ballet shoes, socks are recommended.

Kathy Mata has over 40 years of experience teaching ballet. She enjoys nurturing absolute beginners to achieve their potential as a dancer. This is an inclusive studio welcoming adult dancers of all sizes, identities, experience levels, and walks of life. Come dance with us!
